Job description

We are looking to recruit a US Private Client Tax Director to be based in our London office. The role will involve working closely in a strong team on a range of clients and exciting projects, collaborating with different teams and locations across the firm, as well as helping build a new US tax practice in a Big 4 firm.

Roles and Responsibility

As a UK Tax Director, you will be required to manage a comprehensive and complex client list, provide line and performance management and make a significant contribution to ongoing growth of a successful UK tax practice within a Big 4 firm. You will have a direct contribution to the development and achievement of building the practice and will be required to build and maintain relationships with third parties, such as trustees, wealth managers and more.  You will be expected to advise clients in connection with their tax affairs and onboard them to the team to offer bespoke advice.

You should already be working as either a Director or an experienced senior manager and looking to develop your role considerably through technical advice, client management and business development.

Responsibilities, requirements and experience:

  • Advising clients in relation to their personal and broader family wealth international tax position.
  • Ensuring advice provided by you directly and by your client teams meets expected standards which is fed back through to your team, including being technically correct/accurate, minimising risk and ensuring an excellent level of client service is maintained throughout.
  • Line managing and managing the performance levels of multiple members of staff in your team.
  • Delegating work to other members of the team and having the ability to train and develop their understanding in both technical and soft skills.
  • Detailed and comprehensive knowledge of UK personal tax, with a particular focus on international tax issues (such as the remittance basis, domicile, offshore trusts, the TOAA and s.3 anti-avoidance provisions, IHT) and to be able to involve other colleagues within the firm where necessary.
  • Client engagement and onboarding, management and building relationships, ensuring all internal and external deadlines are met.
  • Taking the lead on the final billing decisions, including scope of work and quotes, and assisting the managers in working towards prompt payments.
  • Responsibility for the recovery and utilisation of the projects and clients for yourself and the team.

What we require from you:

  • CTA qualified.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including providing a high standard of service to clients.
  • Experience of signing out UK tax advice and dealing with client tax requirements
  • Experience managing junior staff and a team
  • A keen and insightful appreciation of the issues facing clients and an ability to deliver bespoke tax solutions to meet their needs.
