Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG) consists of c400 professionals and is widely recognised as a leading independent business, financial and regulatory adviser in the infrastructure space. The group has presence across the UK and is organised on a national basis.

Power & Utilities (P&U), is one of the largest business areas of IAG and encompasses work for major clients in the sector. We provide in-depth strategic and technical advice on strategy and business planning and analysis, regulatory policy, economic regulation and energy policy developments to help our clients create value for both shareholders and customers. We are widely recognised by many industry stakeholders as market leaders influencing the future of the utilities sector.

Our P&U business is currently divided into several practices and is continuously expanding with double digit growth over the last 10 years. We are looking to augment our team with the appointment of an additional Director role in our Energy Regulation & Policy sub-team to support our growth and development of existing and new service lines.

 

The Role

 

The role of Director in Energy Regulation & Policy will provide senior leadership to the Energy Regulation & Policy team, working closely with other Directors and Partners in IAG P&U as part of a ‘one team’ culture. This represents a unique opportunity to build upon current strength and capabilities in the team with an opportunity to put your own stamp on the direction of the business gain further penetration in the sector through developing new service propositions to clients. 


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Developing our Energy Regulation & Policy offering – bringing thought leadership and drive to increase our market penetration and cement our leading position within the marketplace.
  • Shaping and leading propositions in relation to Energy Regulation & Policy to take advantage of new opportunities in a rapidly growing sector.  
  • Nurturing and developing talent within the Energy Regulation & policy team; performance management, coaching and mentoring of team members.
  • Building enduring client relationships and becoming the go to person for clients on relevant market opportunities.
  • Developing collaborative networks and successful partnerships across P&U and the wider firm; supporting colleagues in a wider ‘go to market’ strategy
  • Leading client engagements on a day-to-day basis; producing, reviewing and overseeing development of high-quality documentation and presentations.
  • Maintaining a good technical understanding of the energy sector as well as policy, regulation and associated topics.
  • Ensuring KPMG's quality and risk management procedures are completed to the appropriate standard.
  • Developing sector specific market intelligence.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the senior nature of the role.
     

The Person

You will:

  • Have significant presence in this sector and will already be well known in the industry and have an established network.
  • Have experience and understanding of key elements of energy policy and economic regulation of utilities – you will bring new ideas and have an ability and desire to bring new thinking to bear.
  • Have a track record in working well with others from a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds and bring a collaborative approach to work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Have acquired an in depth knowledge of business planning, strategic considerations, corporate decision making, scenario analysis, and investment appraisal;
  • Be able to foster a learning and developmental environment in the team and have a track record of supporting and developing more junior colleagues to get the best out of people.
  • Have already gained strong track record of advising at senior level within your own organisation or in the wider market influencing direction in relation to key issues affecting energy networks;
  • Be comfortable considering business drivers for energy and utility companies from different perspectives including economic, business, regulatory, financial, and technical;
  • Be an independent thinker with the ability to identify and solve problems;
  • Have a go get attitude, a will to succeed, with both the experience and drive to build a business plan and open up and grow new business opportunities;
  • Be assured and experienced in operating a suitably senior level within the industry; have the necessary skills to successfully develop and manage client relationships
  • Bring experience of managing and leading small to medium sized high performing teams
