Job description

Why KPMG?
At KPMG, our values define who we are and the way we do business. As a leading professional services firm, we know that our strength and capability come from our people – their different perspectives, experiences and backgrounds. From our inclusive leadership strategy to our diversity and inclusion targets – we’re making bold changes to who we are and what we do. Be part of it.

KPMG Law sits within KPMG Tax. We combine expertise in law with business insight and technology-enabled solutions. KPMG Law is regulated by the SRA as a multi-disciplinary practice.
Established corporate, commercial and employment law teams, and a market leading tax litigation team, are already in place. Over the next few years, these teams will grow, and KPMG Law will expand into other areas of law that fit within its vision and the needs of KPMG’s clients.

KPMG Law’s Immigration team comprises solicitors and non-solicitors with experience from boutiques and Big 4.  We are focused on corporate immigration services, private client, higher education, global immigration and immigration technology.  We are expanding and looking for like-minded professionals to join us.

What KPMG Legal Services is looking for from its lawyers/ advisers
- Team players who enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines
- Approachable people who are keen to develop personally and professionally, and to assist with the development of junior team members
- Intellectually curious, open-minded and analytical people, with an eye for detail and pride in their work - Driven and proactive professionals who deliver a great service to their clients
- Relationship builders who can spot and develop new opportunities both within the KPMG network and externally
- Flexible people who are able to deal with a fluid, changing business and work environment

Why you might want to join KPMG Legal Services:
- You can see the advantages of professional advice being provided within a multidisciplinary team
- You are ambitious and perceive the wealth of opportunities presented by a start-up immigration practice in a leading global professional services firm
- You want the opportunity to develop client relationships and KPMG’s legal services capabilities - You are excited by the idea of being a founding member of a team that will grow significantly and you will play a significant role in shaping that growth
- You want to broaden your experience and become a more rounded professional
- You want to achieve a sustainable work-life balance

Role and Responsibilities

The main duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • UK immigration case management:  researching, preparing, reviewing, and filing immigration applications under all UK immigration categories (excluding asylum law; appeals; and judicial review)
  • Researching and drafting advice on UK immigration matters for clients
  • Managing employer immigration compliance through administration of the Sponsor Management System and all associated duties
  • Private client immigration: providing bespoke immigration advice for High Net Worth individuals and their families
  • Immigration audits: reviewing compliance of employers and educational institutions through interviews, onsite review, sample file testing, policy review and reporting

Experience Required

The applicant will have no less than 1 year of experience in drafting Skilled Worker and Senior or Specialist Worker immigration applications and driving the process from start to finish.  The applicant will have experience talking with clients about the prevention of illegal working, sponsor licence compliance, business travel and commuting.  Experience of preparing sponsor licence applications, sponsor change of circumstances cases and supporting clients with Home Office audits would be a plus.

This is a growing team and the role will suit an ambitious immigration professional with the desire and ability to play an important role in continuing that growth. There will be an expectation that the successful applicant will help promote the team’s work through participating in team and firm events, assisting with internal and external presentations, and helping write articles for publication. The successful applicant will be organised and efficient, have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, attention to detail, be able to produce consistently high-quality work within demanding time frames but not afraid to ask questions to challenge or seek clarification when appropriate and have experience of handling a large volume of casework across a portfolio of clients.

Education and Qualifications

KPMG is looking for a confident client-facing immigration professional, with strong technical and inter-personal skills.

It is expected that the successful applicant will have more than 1 year of relevant immigration experience.
