Meggie

Meggie studied Economics at the University of York. She became interested in working in technology after spending time working with a phone company at the Rio Olympic Games.

“I actually applied to a few different graduate programmes at various organisations, but KPMG really stood out. That was partly because it had the best recruitment process. It was so quick. Some other companies were only inviting me to assessment centres three months after I’d applied.

The other main thing that appealed to me about KPMG, and this programme in particular, was the scope to get involved in so many different things. You can experience different teams, work on a range of projects and, if you do well, you can progress quickly.

“I’ve been really impressed with the culture. In my team, there’s a lot of give and take. There is a lot of flexibility in both the working hours and being able to work from home.”

In terms of what I do day-to-day, I do build work and that’s where you get to be creative. You can come up with ideas and new tools, and as long as they’re relevant, your team will get behind you so that you can give it a go.

Right now, I’m working on our new KPMG careers portal which is all about creating a better and clearer candidate experience. We want to help people to understand our different roles and what it means to be part of the firm.

I love the culture in my team and I’m learning so much. It’s very collaborative and everyone is always happy to help you. The progression is incremental, so I now own some smaller projects myself and get to contribute to some larger projects too.

In terms of technology, I’ve been focusing on Microsoft Azure and I’m going to their conference in Orlando which I’m really excited about. And not just because of the location, but because of what I’ll see and learn. A year ago, I’d never have thought I’d be saying that!”
