On the Accounting Advisory and Assurance programme you will develop your skills and experience by providing businesses with a broad range of accounting advice. Depending on the team you join you could be supporting major business transactions and transformations or delivering assurance services on financial and non-financial information, processes and controls such as information relating to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting.

If you join our Accounting Advisory team, you’ll help businesses with a variety of complex accounting challenges, such as preparation of financial statements, mergers and acquisitions, implementing new accounting standards or regulatory changes, group restructures and delivery of training.

In ESG Assurance, you’ll help organisations meet the growing demand for clear and transparent disclosure of their ESG commitments to regulators, investors, and the public. Reporting standards are changing rapidly and you’ll play an important role examining a variety of data points such as greenhouse gas emissions, waste, human rights, diversity and many other non-financial metrics. You may also be involved in providing assurance over sector specific regulations such as ATOL, contractual compliance, and grants.

Joining our Controls Assurance team, you’ll assess how well our clients operate their business processes, helping them to become aware of potential risks and build customer confidence. You could be reviewing technology processes such as system access, data security and cyber resilience or operational processes such as investment management and payroll, across a variety of industries.

Whichever team your join you‘ll also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with other KPMG teams including Financial and Technology Audit, Transaction Services, Consulting, Corporate Finance and Tax.

The work is challenging and rewarding. Throughout the programme you’ll have the support of your senior leaders, engagement leader, peers and the broader Audit community, enabling you to be at your best and build your network. It’s an inclusive environment, where you’ll have the support and backing of a diverse team. We’ll give you the skills, tools and intelligent systems you need to grow and learn.

On this programme you'll study for the ACA qualification, or CA equivalent in Scotland, which will help you develop valuable technical skills, broad commercial understanding and in-depth knowledge of different industry sectors, empowering you to build an exciting and varied long-term career.

Our firm’s hybrid working model balances the flexibility of working from home with the importance of collaborating and learning in our offices, or at the sites of the organisations we work with. We trust our people to be where they need to be, with our colleagues working together in person as often as needed. You’ll be empowered by the technology that supports us to work flexibly across our collaborative office spaces.

Join us and be part of an inclusive team that’s supportive of individual wellbeing and makes a meaningful difference to the companies we work with and our communities. If you’re curious, resilient and agile, you could thrive with us.

The entire programme is supported in a wide range of ways by your tuition provider (BPP) and KPMG’s dedicated Early Careers Development team.

If you join a Scottish office, we support the equivalent CA qualification and therefore you will study towards your ICAS. This newly designed programme enables you to sit the majority of the ICAS exams in your first year, provides you with innovative technology to support your learning experience and also enables you to upskill quickly. You will have opportunities to reconnect with your home department and peer group, as well as complete internal training and extra skills sessions. The entire programme is supported in a wide range of ways by ICAS and KPMG’s dedicated Early Careers Development team.

In line with our hybrid model, you will be required to travel to our training partners offices, it is important that you read our guide on How to get the best out of our hybrid model.

For both programmes in the remaining two years of your training contract, you will concentrate on building up a fantastic range of work experience, complete your exams and will have the technical knowledge to apply to your role in the workplace. Mariana

After I finished my studies, I stayed on to work at my university for a year. I learnt that what I wanted from a job was varied experience, not the same thing over and over.

Everyone here is willing to meet you and talk, at any level of the business. I was interested in a department, and it was very easy to get to know the partners working there on a personal basis. There is a culture of approachability.

I’d been in the office for four months and I’d worked with different organisations. It’s everything I’d hoped for.
